Finding purpose is a personal thing. And it is related to many aspects of who you are – your physical abilities, your nurture, your experience, your beliefs and of course your Natural Number. There is nuance and variation in what purpose is, how it’s defined and how you find it for yourself. That said there are definitely high level themes that are related to your Natural Number that can help you find a sense of purpose.
Many people believe that purpose is important for maintaining a healthy life. Without purpose life can feel senseless and things are much tougher. It’s harder to get going, harder to know what to do, and when to do it. You can get stuck in ruts, using routine as a way to keep going. This can result in the joy seeping out of your life. When there is no joy, no fun, no meaning it can send you deeper into a spiral of depression.
What creates purpose and what you do with it does have Natural Number specific underpinnings. There is a core element or theme that we hear consistently that is held within the purpose that is important to each Natural Number. Think of these themes as the mode of transportation, where the goal or destination is the purpose.
Natural Number 1s – Creativity
For Natural Number 1 any purpose includes the element of creativity. This can show up in any way. How it shows up can be related to talents, interests, experiences – all the other components of what makes us who we are. The drive for creativity, the ability to use creativity as fuel for achieving purpose is a central element for Natural Number 1s.
Natural Number 2s – Engagement
Purpose includes engagement for Natural Number 2 – it can be engagement with anything or anyone, again the what of engagement comes from other aspects of our being. The central element for natural Number 2 is there is something or someone with which to engage – everything in relationship with someone or something else, and the more real and the more compelling the engagement the better. Engagement is where movement and growth come from for Natural Number 2, this leads to purpose.
Natural Number 3s – Inquiry
Natural Number 3s use inquiry to help us understand our greatest purpose. They are central to assisting others with defining and realizing their own grand design. The element of inquiry, asking the right questions at the right time, while a bit different than for the other Natural numbers, is a key element for Natural Number 3s in their purpose, and they use this to help others.
Natural Number 4s – Alignment
We often also talk about authenticity for Natural Number 4, but authenticity is more of an outcome. It is the drive toward authenticity- -which is alignment – that must be present for Natural number 4 in the attainment and state of purpose.
Natural Number 5 – Learning
While we often associate understanding with Natural Number 5, that is the outcome of learning. Learning in is the transportation mode to purpose for Natural Number 5. The what, the how, and the why of the learning comes from the other influences like nurture, ability and interest.
Natural Number 6 – Significance
For Natural number 6 significance creates drive and movement. If it doesn’t matter it will not create the energy and aliveness needed for action. What ever the purpose or direction, it must matter to Natural Number 6s or it will not maintain their interest.
Natural Number 7 – Optimization
Natural Number 7s’ drive to make things better means that optimization is central to purpose. The what and how of the optimization is as unique as each Natural Number 7, but the central drive is always optimization. Natural Number 7s are very gifted at helping others find their purpose because they know inherently that it is critical to our being – life has no real purpose, so we must find the purpose that serves our optimization as a human being.
Natural Number 8 – Integrity
Natural Number 8 is founded on integrity, any purpose must have it’s foundation in integrity. Everything that is considered in manifesting purpose safely springs from this foundation. Without the underpinning of integrity any purpose will flounder, for Natural Number 8 it is a driver. For the others it is a critical consideration.
Natural Number 9 – Flow
What does it take to create flow? Natural Number 9s inherently know how to harmonize, to balance, to eliminates dams and obstacles to enable flow – the movement toward our greatest purpose to know that we are one with the universe and through that knowing of our place, our role and power, we can achieve our greatest impact with the least amount of energy and force. The element of flow is the vehicle for Natural Number 9.
